CDBA PICNIC on June 14th! Bring a dish and enjoy the company of your fellow beekeepers.

The picnic will be Sunday June 14th at noon in the Fabyan Woods Forest Preserve on the Fox River in Kane County south of Geneva Illinois. Seth Ament (PhD Candidate from the University of Illinois) will be speaking on "Genomic Analysis of Honey Bee Nutrition: Applications for Bee Health and Bee Biology." Karen and Jim Belli will be judging the Honey Competition. Rules will follow the Illinois State Fair guidelines. (they can be found in this news letter) Bring your honey to be judged. (3 one pound identical glass jars, no color class. There is a learning curve involved.) Learn and improve, then show off your ribbons when selling your honey products. Picnic dinner will be potluck, bring a dish to pass. The club will provide plates and utensils. We will have a sign up sheet at the May 16th meeting to list the dish you intend to bring, so that we can have a diverse menu. Homemade is always the better choice.

Does someone have Queen marking equipment that would be willing to demonstrate at a future meeting. I can setup a camera to record and display live on the projector screen at the meeting.

Please submit your ideas for an alternate meeting site to me or any of our other board members. We will try to remain at our current site thru this year.

Premium Books for Illinois State Fair and Lake County Indiana Fair are available online. Rules for our Club competition at the June Picnic will follow Illinois State Fair rules. Email me if there are other County Fairs with Honey or Beekeeping Classes.
